PAREF Schools are all-boys and all-girls schools, which are technically referred to as single-sex schools. Recent research in the United States and in Europe has shown the beneficial effects of single-sex schooling over coeducation. Since the brains of boys and girls are different and they learn differently, research has shown that it is best to teach them differently. Children from single-sex schools have been shown to score higher in academic tests and acquire better socio-emotional balance than children from coeducational settings. Single-sex schooling is now touted as one of the most progressive educational ideas for the twenty-first century.
PAREF is a founding member of the Character Education Partnership (CEP) Philippines.
